hcAlarmFallingEventIndex

Module: HC-ALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): HC-ALARM-MIB::hcAlarmFallingEventIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.29.1.1.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: The index of the eventEntry that is used when a falling threshold is crossed. The eventEntry identified by a particular value of this index is the same as identified by the same value of the eventIndex object. If there is no corresponding entry in the eventTable, then no association exists. In particular, if this value is zero, no associated event will be generated, as zero is not a valid event index.

This object may not be modified if the associated hcAlarmStatus object is equal to active(1).

What is hcAlarmFallingEventIndex?

This is the index of the RMON eventEntry to trigger when the sampled value falls back below the falling threshold. It lets admins configure a separate notification action for the falling-edge condition, distinct from the event fired on the rising edge. Setting it to zero means crossing the falling threshold generates no event at all, useful if only rising-edge alerts matter for this metric.
