hcAlarmCapabilities

Module: HC-ALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): HC-ALARM-MIB::hcAlarmCapabilities

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.29.1.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Bits

Access: read-only

Description: An indication of the high capacity alarm capabilities supported by this agent.

If the 'hcAlarmCreation' BIT is set, then this agent allows NMS applications to create entries in the hcAlarmTable.

If the 'hcAlarmNvStorage' BIT is set, then this agent allows entries in the hcAlarmTable which will be recreated after a system restart, as controlled by the hcAlarmStorageType object.

What is hcAlarmCapabilities?

This is a bitmap advertising which optional high-capacity alarm features this agent supports, such as dynamic alarm creation and non-volatile alarm storage. Management applications check it before attempting to create new alarm rows or rely on persistent storage, since not every agent implementation supports dynamic alarm creation or non-volatile alarms. If the non-volatile-storage bit is not set, a monitoring system knows any alarm entries it creates with a permanent storage type won't actually survive a reboot on this device.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.29.1.2.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HC-ALARM-MIB::hcAlarmCapabilities

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.29.1.2.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HC-ALARM-MIB::hcAlarmCapabilities.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> hcAlarmCapabilities.1
