What is vcShmem2UnintentionalLostCells?
This counter records ATM cells dropped on a virtual circuit due to output buffer exhaustion or because the cell's CLP (Cell Loss Priority) bit flagged it for discard when congestion occurs. Operators use this metric to detect oversubscribed output ports or excessive traffic bursts that the switch cannot absorb. Rising values indicate quality-of-service issues or the need for traffic policing.
