Module: Fore-Switch-MIB
OID (symbolic): Fore-Switch-MIB::pnniNormalToOverloadTransition
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.0.2015
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
This trap is generated on transition from the normal state to the overload state.
What is pnniNormalToOverloadTransition?
This notification fires when the switch transitions from normal operation to an overload state where it is processing too much traffic. Receiving this alert indicates the switch's CPU or memory is becoming saturated. A network operator uses this alert to either reduce traffic to that switch or upgrade its capacity before it starts dropping packets.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' Fore-Switch-MIB::pnniNormalToOverloadTransition snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.0.2015
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
