What is asxSonetPathAISDetected?

This notification indicates that a SONET port is experiencing Path Alarm Indication Signal (PAIS), a critical failure condition. A Path AIS is raised when SONET path defects persist for 2.5 +/- 0.5 seconds, signaling loss of the optical signal path. An operator would use this trap to detect and respond to serious optical transmission problems on SONET interfaces.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' Fore-Switch-MIB::asxSonetPathAISDetected
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.0.134

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
