asxLinkDown
Module: Fore-Switch-MIB
OID (symbolic): Fore-Switch-MIB::asxLinkDown
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.0.28
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
This trap alerts that the link that is identified by portName was configured up, but its underlying physical layer has lost its carrier (or the framing bit) and is currently down.
What is asxLinkDown?
This is a notification (trap) that fires when a port loses its carrier signal, indicating the physical connection is broken. The trap includes the port name so the operator knows exactly which link failed. An operator receives this alert and immediately investigates cable or peer equipment issues.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' Fore-Switch-MIB::asxLinkDown snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.326.2.2.0.28
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
