What is mstpGenMaxHops?

This OID sets the maximum number of hops (4-30) a BPDU can traverse inside this MST region before being discarded, effectively bounding the diameter of the region. An admin lowers this on very large flat topologies to prevent stale BPDUs from circulating indefinitely.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> FORCE10-MSTP-MIB::mstpGenMaxHops

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6027.20.2.10.14.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> FORCE10-MSTP-MIB::mstpGenMaxHops.1
