extremeStackMemberOperStatus

Module: EXTREME-STACKING-MIB

OID (symbolic): EXTREME-STACKING-MIB::extremeStackMemberOperStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.33.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The operational status of the stack member. When the stack comes up, if there is a vector mismatch namely license mismatch or platform mismatch between the master and the member, the member remains in the mismatch state. Further communication with the member is not possible

What is extremeStackMemberOperStatus?

Reports whether a stack member is up(1), down(2), or in mismatch(3) state; mismatch occurs when there's a license or platform mismatch between master and member, after which further communication with that member isn't possible. An admin seeing mismatch(3) knows to check that the member's license or hardware platform matches the rest of the stack.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.33.2.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> EXTREME-STACKING-MIB::extremeStackMemberOperStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.33.2.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> EXTREME-STACKING-MIB::extremeStackMemberOperStatus.1

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select an Extreme Networks SummitStack stackable switch as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type extremeStackMemberOperStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The operational status of the stack member. When the stack comes up, if there is a vector mismatch namely license mismatch or platform mismatch between the master and the member, the member remains in the mismatch state. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is 'down' or 'mismatch', since 'mismatch' means a license or platform mismatch is keeping this member out of the stack. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
