Description: Number of packets discarded due to no available buffers for the specific receive priority.

What is rxPriorityStatisticsDiscards?

This counter tracks how many packets assigned to a specific receive priority had to be dropped because no buffer space was available to hold them, indicating that incoming traffic at that priority level exceeded what the device could momentarily buffer. Administrators watch this counter to detect congestion or buffer exhaustion affecting a particular priority queue, which could signal the uplink is oversubscribed for that traffic class. For example, a rising discard count on a low-priority receive queue during peak hours would tell an admin that best-effort traffic is being dropped due to buffer limits, which may be acceptable if higher-priority traffic like voice is unaffected.
