What is alarmMajorNumber?
This counter reports how many alarms currently active in the Alarm Table have a perceived severity of 'major'. Tracking it separately from critical and minor counts lets an admin gauge how much of the current fault load falls into the second-highest severity tier without walking the whole Alarm Table. For example, a network operations dashboard might poll alarmMajorNumber every minute and page a secondary on-call engineer if it rises above 10.
