eqSonetStatsPathFailures

Module: EQUIPE-SONET-MIB

OID (symbolic): EQUIPE-SONET-MIB::eqSonetStatsPathFailures

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5022.3.3.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of path failure events. A path failure is an AIS-P signal received from another NE, or received from the same NE when internally generating an AIS-P signal in the PTE. A path with support for ERDI-P will increment this counter when an UNEQ-P failure is declared.

What is eqSonetStatsPathFailures?

Counts path failure events on this SONET port, where a path failure is an AIS-P (path alarm indication signal) received from another network element, generated internally, or - on paths supporting ERDI-P - an UNEQ-P (unequipped path) failure. Because this tracks path-layer problems separately from the line-layer failures in eqSonetStatsLineFailures, admins use it to pinpoint whether an outage originates at the path (end-to-end circuit) level versus the physical line level. A path showing eqSonetStatsPathFailures increasing while eqSonetStatsLineFailures stays at zero would point an admin toward a path provisioning or far-end termination issue rather than a physical line problem.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5022.3.3.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> EQUIPE-SONET-MIB::eqSonetStatsPathFailures

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5022.3.3.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> EQUIPE-SONET-MIB::eqSonetStatsPathFailures.1
