Module: EQUIPE-SONET-MIB

OID (symbolic): EQUIPE-SONET-MIB::eqSonetApsCfgPortActive

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5022.3.1.1.4

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object is used to determine if the sts paths configured on this port are currrently actually terminated on this port. This is used to determine if the port is in active or standby mode. A value of false(1) indicates that the sts paths are not terminated (standby). A value of true(2) indicates that the sts paths are terminated (active).

What is eqSonetApsCfgPortActive?

Indicates whether the STS paths configured on this SONET port are currently actually terminated on it - true(2) means the port is active, false(1) means it's in standby. In an APS working/protecting pair, only one port carries live traffic at a time, so admins use this flag to identify which physical port is presently handling the circuit before doing any hands-on work. Before unplugging a fiber for testing, a technician would check that eqSonetApsCfgPortActive reads false(1) on that port to confirm it's the standby side, not the one carrying live traffic.
