Description: The custom ethertype to classify ingress vlan tags (SVLAN) for the interface to interoperate with third party vendor's system that do not use the standard 0x8100 ethertype to identify 802.1q-tagged frames.

What is eltIfDot1qCustomIngressEtherType2?

This read-write Integer32, indexed by ifIndex and restricted to values other than the standard 0x8100 (i.e. 0-33023 or 33025-65535), is the first of several custom EtherType values the interface uses to recognize ingress S-VLAN tags from third-party equipment that doesn't tag with the standard 0x8100 EtherType. Admins populate this slot when the connected neighbor uses a specific non-standard tag EtherType that needs to be recognized alongside or instead of 0x8100. For example, setting eltIfDot1qCustomIngressEtherType2 to 34984 (0x88A8, the 802.1ad Q-in-Q EtherType) lets the interface classify incoming provider-bridged frames tagged with that EtherType as S-VLAN traffic.
