Description: Specifies the separator used in MAC address string contained in User-Name attribute (attribute 1) during MAC-based authentication.

What is eltdot1xMacAuthFormatUsernameSeparator?

This setting chooses which character, if any, separates the byte groups of a MAC address when it's sent as the RADIUS username during MAC-based authentication -- none, a dash, a colon, or a dot. Administrators pick the separator that matches the format expected by their RADIUS server's authentication rules, since a mismatch could cause valid devices to fail authentication. For example, setting this to colon(2) would format a device's MAC as '00:1a:2b:3c:4d:5e' in the User-Name attribute.
