efmCuPmeThreshLineAtn

Module: EFM-CU-MIB

OID (symbolic): EFM-CU-MIB::efmCuPmeThreshLineAtn

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.167.1.2.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: Desired Line Attenuation threshold for the 2B/10P PME. This object configures the line attenuation alarm threshold. When the current value of Line Attenuation reaches or exceeds this threshold, an efmCuPmeLineAtnCrossing notification MAY be generated, if enabled by efmCuPmeLineAtnCrossingEnable.

This object is writable for the CO subtype PMEs (-O). It is read-only for the CPE subtype (-R).

Changing of the Line Attenuation threshold MUST be performed when the link is Down. Attempts to change this object MUST be rejected (in case of SNMP with the error inconsistentValue), if the link is Up or Initializing.

If a Clause 45 MDIO Interface to the PME is present, then this object maps to the loop attenuation threshold bits in the 2B PMD line quality thresholds register.

What is efmCuPmeThreshLineAtn?

This value (-127 to 128 dB) sets the line-attenuation alarm threshold for an individual PME; once measured attenuation reaches or exceeds it, an efmCuPmeLineAtnCrossing notification can fire if enabled. It's writable on CO-side (-O) PMEs but read-only on CPE-side (-R) ones, and changes require the link to be down — useful for flagging a copper pair whose loss is creeping toward an unacceptable level.
