dellTrapTimeStamp

Module: Dell-LAN-TRAP-MIB

OID (symbolic): Dell-LAN-TRAP-MIB::dellTrapTimeStamp

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DateAndTime

Access: read-only

Description: The trap header includes the system up time which mark when the trap was generated, but often it is important to know the absolute time when the trap was generated. This time stamp is based on GMT (universal time) time zone. This will allow the timestamps to be correlated consistently across a large network.

What is dellTrapTimeStamp?

This value records the absolute date and time, in GMT, at which a given trap was generated by the Dell device, supplementing the relative system-uptime timestamp normally included in the SNMP trap header. An admin relies on this GMT timestamp to accurately correlate events across multiple devices in a large network, since comparing raw system-uptime values between devices with different boot times wouldn't be meaningful. For example, this value lets an admin line up a trap from this switch with log entries from an unrelated server by their actual wall-clock time rather than each device's own relative uptime counter.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.1.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Dell-LAN-TRAP-MIB::dellTrapTimeStamp

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.1.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Dell-LAN-TRAP-MIB::dellTrapTimeStamp.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> dellTrapTimeStamp.1
