docsBpi2Ext31CmDeviceCmCert

Module: DOCS-BPI2EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DOCS-BPI2EXT-MIB::docsBpi2Ext31CmDeviceCmCert

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4491.2.1.29.1.1.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DocsX509ASN1DEREncodedCertificate

Access: read-write

Description: The X509 DER-encoded cable modem certificate. Note: This object can be set only when the value is the zero-length OCTET STRING; otherwise, an error of 'inconsistentValue' is returned. Once the object contains the certificate, its access MUST be read-only and persists after re-initialization of the managed system.

What is docsBpi2Ext31CmDeviceCmCert?

This object holds the X.509 DER-encoded certificate for the cable modem itself, part of the DOCSIS 3.1 BPI+ security extension. It can only be set while empty (a zero-length string) - attempting to overwrite an existing certificate returns an inconsistentValue error - and once populated it becomes read-only and survives a device reboot. For example, a provisioning system writes the CM's certificate here once during initial device enrollment, after which the value is locked in permanently.
