dnmsAlarmEntryEnable

Module: DNMSALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): DNMSALARM-MIB::dnmsAlarmEntryEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.384.2.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Each alarm can be enabled/disabled individually.

This is expected to matter more as equivalent SNMP

style traps are implemented in MIBS for CPX boxes.

The overlapping traps (e.g. rfc1215's linkDown and

linkUp overlapping the X25 link down and ups) could

result in superfluous trap messages. These can be

avoided by selectively disabling some of these

traps.

What is dnmsAlarmEntryEnable?

This object enables or disables the individual alarm identified by that row's index, allowing finer control than the single global on/off switch. An administrator uses it to silence specific noisy or redundant alarms, the description specifically calls out overlapping traps like RFC1215's linkDown/linkUp duplicating the X.25 link alarms, while leaving other alarms active. Setting the entry for x25-lev1-dn to disable(2) would suppress that particular alarm without turning off alarm reporting for every other condition.
