dialCtlPeerCfgSpeed

Module: DIAL-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): DIAL-CONTROL-MIB::dialCtlPeerCfgSpeed

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.21.1.2.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description:

The desired information transfer speed in bits/second when calling this peer. The detailed media specific information, e.g. information type and information transfer rate for ISDN circuits, has to be extracted from this object. If the transfer speed to be used is unknown or the default speed for this type of interfaces, the value of this object may be zero.

What is dialCtlPeerCfgSpeed?

This read-write number specifies the desired data transfer speed in bits per second (for example, 56000 for 56k modem), or zero if using default speed for the connection type. Engineers set this to match the carrier's provisioned bandwidth and the remote device's capability. A backup ISDN line might be configured for 128000 (dual-channel ISDN) while a legacy site uses 64000.
