dialCtlPeerCfgCallRetries
Module: DIAL-CONTROL-MIB
OID (symbolic): DIAL-CONTROL-MIB::dialCtlPeerCfgCallRetries
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.21.1.2.1.1.15
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-create
Description:
The number of calls to a non-responding address that may be made. A retry count of zero means there is no bound. The intent is to bound the number of successive calls to an address which is inaccessible, or which refuses those calls.
Some countries regulate the number of call retries to a given peer that can be made.
What is dialCtlPeerCfgCallRetries?
This read-write number sets how many times the device should retry calling an unreachable peer before giving up, or zero for unlimited retries. Engineers use this to balance persistence against excessive call attempts that may violate regulations or waste resources. A backup site might be set to 3 retries so failed connections are attempted a few times before stopping, while an always-on link might use unlimited retries.
