Module: DES3052-L2MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DES3052-L2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.63.8.2.1.2.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the SNMP entity is permitted to generate authenticationFailure traps. The value of this object overrides any configuration information; as such, it provides a means whereby all authenticationFailure traps may be disabled.

Note that it is strongly recommended that this object be stored in non-volatile memory so that it remains constant across re-initializations of the network management system.

What is swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps?

Global on/off (enabled(1), disabled(2)) for SNMP authenticationFailure traps, which the switch sends when a request arrives with a wrong community string. The source says this setting overrides other configuration and recommends storing it in non-volatile memory; turn it on to be alerted to SNMP probing and off if a scanner floods your trap receiver.
