swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

Module: DES1228ME-L2MGMT-MIB

OID (symbolic): DES1228ME-L2MGMT-MIB::swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.11.116.1.2.1.2.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether the SNMP entity is permitted to generate authenticationFailure traps. The value of this object overrides any configuration information; as such, it provides a means whereby all authenticationFailure traps may be disabled.

Note that it is strongly recommended that this object be stored in non-volatile memory so that it remains constant across re-initializations of the network management system.

What is swL2DevCtrlSnmpEnableAuthenTraps?

Controls whether the switch may send SNMP authenticationFailure traps, which fire when someone polls with a wrong community string; enabled(1) permits them and disabled(2) suppresses them everywhere. Leave it enabled to get warned about unauthorized SNMP probing; the source recommends keeping it in non-volatile memory so it survives reboots.
