This value reports the probable-cause code that the Cyan device's fault-management system assigned to a raised alarm, drawn from the CyanProbablecauseTc enumeration. Admins use it to quickly classify what kind of condition triggered the alarm entry without having to open the raw event log or reason from a numeric code alone. For example, an optical amplifier losing input light might report a probable cause such as Loss Of Signal, letting an NMS auto-route the alert to the right team.
