frpAtmNISapCLPtoDEMapping

Module: CXFrameRelayATMIWF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CXFrameRelayATMIWF-MIB::frpAtmNISapCLPtoDEMapping

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.6.3.52.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Determines which mode will be selected for loss priority mapping in the ATM to FR direction.

Options: mode1 (1): If one or more ATM cells belonging to a frame has it's CLP field set to one or if the DE field of the FR-SSCS PDU is set to one, the DE field of the Q.922 core frame should be set.

mode2 (2): No mapping is performed from the ATM layer to Q.922 core layer. The FR-SSCS PDU DE field is copied unchanged to the Q.922 core frame DE field, independent of CLP indications received at the ATM layer.

Default Value: mode1

Configuration Changed: operative

What is frpAtmNISapCLPtoDEMapping?

This object selects how loss-priority information is mapped in the reverse, ATM-to-Frame-Relay direction, with mode1 setting the Q.922 core frame's DE bit whenever any constituent ATM cell has CLP set or the FR-SSCS DE bit is set, while mode2 simply copies the FR-SSCS DE bit through unchanged and ignores ATM CLP indications entirely. An admin picks mode1 when downstream FR devices need to see loss-priority marking that reflects actual ATM cell loss risk, or mode2 for simpler, ATM-independent DE handling. For example, leaving this at the mode1 default ensures a frame reassembled from cells that experienced CLP marking gets flagged as discard-eligible in the Frame Relay network.
