srepeaterLinkStatusMask

Module: CTATX-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTATX-MIB::srepeaterLinkStatusMask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.16.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This mask provides quick access to the general connectivity of the repeater. Each bit corresponds to the link status of a repeater port. If the bit is set to 1 then link pulses are being received, as per the IEEE specification. A bit value of zero indicates one of four conditions: - There is nothing physically attached to the port. - The port is not configured for twisted-pair. The AUI interface, for example, does not generate or test for link pulses. - The device attached to the port does not generate the link pulses specified by the IEEE standard. STARLAN devices, for example, do not generate such pulses. - The port is configured to ignore link pulses (see srepeaterPortLinkPulse). The least significant bit in the mask corresponds to repeater port 1; the high-order eight bits are always zero.

What is srepeaterLinkStatusMask?

This read-only INTEGER is a bitmask giving quick access to link status across all ports of a repeater, where a set bit means link pulses are being received on that port per IEEE spec, and a clear bit can mean nothing is attached, or the port isn't configured for twisted-pair (e.g., an AUI port that doesn't test for link pulses). An admin polls this single value to get a fast overview of which repeater ports have live connections without querying each port individually. Reading srepeaterLinkStatusMask and finding several bits unexpectedly clear would prompt the admin to check those specific repeater ports for disconnected cables.
