Description: Allows transmission of spanning tree protocol packets to be suppressed. If normal(1), 802.1d spanning tree packets and source-routing spanning tree packets are transmitted as usual. If suppressed(2), these packets are not transmitted. This option may be needed for in- teroperability with non-802.1d spanning tree protocols (e.g., DEC LanBridge 100).
What is sprotoSuppressBpdus?
This read-write enumerated INTEGER controls whether 802.1d and source-routing spanning tree BPDU packets are transmitted normally or suppressed on this port, the latter useful for interoperating with non-802.1d spanning tree implementations like DEC LanBridge 100. An admin sets this to suppressed(2) when connecting to legacy bridging equipment that reacts poorly to standard spanning tree BPDUs. Setting sprotoSuppressBpdus to suppressed(2) would resolve a compatibility issue when bridging to an older DEC LanBridge 100 segment.
