Module: CTATX-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTATX-MIB::sprotoIpxDot3Framing

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.17.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: If sprotoIpxRoute or sprotoIpxTranslate is enabled, specifies the type of framing to be used for NetWare IPX packets on 802.3 networks. ethernet8023(1) speci- fies that the 802.3 header is to be used without an 802.2 header. ethernet2(2) specifies that Ethernet-2 framing is to be used, with etherType 8137. ether- net8022(3) specifies that an LLC header e0,e0,03 is to be used in conjunction with the 802.3 header.

What is sprotoIpxDot3Framing?

This read-write enumerated INTEGER, relevant when sprotoIpxRoute or sprotoIpxTranslate is enabled, selects the 802.3 framing used for NetWare IPX packets: raw 802.3 without an 802.2 header, Ethernet-2 framing with etherType 8137, or 802.2 framing with an e0-e0-03 LLC header. An admin sets this to match the IPX frame type expected by the NetWare servers and clients on that segment, since NetWare frame type mismatches prevent communication entirely. Setting sprotoIpxDot3Framing to ethernet8022(3) would be required to interoperate with a NetWare 4.x environment defaulting to 802.2 framing rather than the older raw 802.3 type.
