Description: Specifies whether, when bridging AppleTalk ELAP, TLAP, and AARP frames, those frames are to be translated between token ring and Ethernet format before being forwarded.
This option applies only to token ring ports.
What is sprotoAppleTranslate?
This read-write enumerated INTEGER, applicable only to token ring ports, specifies whether AppleTalk ELAP, TLAP, and AARP frames are translated between Token Ring and Ethernet format before forwarding. An admin enables this on a Token Ring port that bridges AppleTalk traffic to an Ethernet segment, ensuring frame format compatibility. Enabling sprotoAppleTranslate would be necessary to let AppleTalk devices on a Token Ring segment properly communicate with AppleTalk devices on a bridged Ethernet network.
