sipcktSourceRoute
Module: CTATX-MIB
OID (symbolic): CTATX-MIB::sipcktSourceRoute
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.21.1.1.5
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Specifies the behavior of IP routing with respect to (link-layer) source routing for this circuit. If default(1) then behavior depends on whether the port is token ring or not. If token ring then ARP requests are sent both as source-routing explorers and as local frames; if not token ring then only local frames are sent. If sr(2) then ARP requests are sent as source-routing explorers only. If no-sr(3) then ARP requests are sent as local frames only. If both(4), ARP requests are sent both as source-routing explorers and as local frames. Default(1) should be adequate for most uses unless either source routing is being used on FDDI, or the ARP traffic is excessive on token ring.
What is sipcktSourceRoute?
This setting controls how the circuit handles link-layer source routing when sending ARP requests, with options default (behavior depends on whether the port is Token Ring), sr (explorer packets only), no-sr, or both. On Token Ring ports specifically, this determines whether ARP requests go out as source-routing explorer frames, affecting whether the router can discover paths across bridged Token Ring segments. An admin bridging a Token Ring segment with unclear topology might set sipcktSourceRoute to sr so ARP always uses explorer frames to map the path.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.21.1.1.5 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CTATX-MIB::sipcktSourceRoute
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.21.1.1.5.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CTATX-MIB::sipcktSourceRoute.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.21.1.1.5.1 i <value>
