This read-write INTEGER (true(1)/false(2)) controls whether this port filters local traffic, bypassing all statistics accumulation, rather than passing it to the Packet Processing Engine, and is unavailable on UART and WAN ports. An administrator enables it to trade away per-address statistics visibility on that port's local traffic in exchange for reduced PPE load. For example, the admin enables sifFilterLocal on a heavily loaded LAN port to offload local traffic handling from the PPE, accepting that per-address stats for that traffic will no longer be collected.
