ruleAllowIcmp

Module: CTATX-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTATX-MIB::ruleAllowIcmp

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.23.2.1.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Boolean

Access: read-write

Description: Whether to forward ICMP packets (IP protocol 1).

What is ruleAllowIcmp?

This boolean controls whether ICMP packets, IP protocol 1, are forwarded under this rule. Disabling it would block ping and other ICMP diagnostic traffic through that port, which admins sometimes do to limit reconnaissance or ICMP-based attacks. An admin wanting to permit ping tests to a protected server would enable ruleAllowIcmp for that rule.
