An administrator enables it to force explorer traffic down a single spanning-tree path rather than flooding all possible routes, reducing explorer-frame load on the network. For example, the admin sets ppeAresAsStes to true(1) on an SRB network experiencing explorer-frame flooding, so all-routes-explorers are handled like spanning-tree-explorers instead.
