What is hwPpeType?
This read-only INTEGER identifies which generation of Packet Processing Engine hardware is fitted, either ppe2(1) or the newer ppe3(2). An administrator checks this before enabling advanced features, since PPE generation can determine which protocols or performance levels the chassis can support. For example, before turning on OSPF, the admin polls hwPpeType to confirm the box has a ppe3(2) engine rather than the earlier ppe2(1).
