This read-only OCTET STRING, a variable-length array with one element per port, gives additional port-type information beyond what hwPortType reports, for each port on a module. An admin uses this alongside hwPortType to get finer-grained identification of a port's physical medium or subtype. For example, two ports that both report csma(1) in hwPortType could still be distinguished here if one carries additional subtype detail such as a specific cabling or duplex variant.
