cpqnSPortModemAutoNegotiateState

Module: CPQNUNIF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CPQNUNIF-MIB::cpqnSPortModemAutoNegotiateState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.121.2.3.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: DURABLE: If enabled(1), the unit automatically detects the baud rate of incoming calls and will adjust the baud rate on this port to match. This is accomplished by watching for the connect indication strings from a modem attached to the port. For more information on how a unit supports modems, see the unit's documentation.

What is cpqnSPortModemAutoNegotiateState?

This read-write enabled/disabled setting, DURABLE across reboots, when enabled makes the unit automatically detect the baud rate of incoming calls by watching for a modem's connect indication strings, and adjust this port's baud rate to match. An admin enables this so a serial port can accept calls at varying baud rates without manual reconfiguration for each connection. For example, enabling auto-negotiate lets the same serial port correctly handle both a 9600 baud and a 33600 baud incoming modem connection without the admin changing settings between calls.
