This CoriantTypesEnableSwitch (default disabled) controls whether a BER-SD-ODU (bit-error-rate signal-degrade) defect on the underlying ODU can itself trigger Automatic Laser Shutdown on an STM-64 (10 Gb/s SDH) client port, extending ALS beyond simple loss-of-signal conditions. An administrator enables this to have a marginal, error-prone signal - not just a fully dead one - also trip the laser-safety shutdown. For example, enabling this on STM-64 means a slowly degrading link that starts racking up excessive block errors while still nominally 'up' would still cause the transmit laser to shut down as a precaution.
