This field specifies the desired high threshold value for a selected performance monitoring parameter. An admin configures this so the system raises a threshold-crossing alert whenever that parameter's value climbs above an acceptable level, such as an optical power reading getting too high. Setting this threshold appropriately for, say, an Rx optical power gauge lets the operator get proactively warned before a receiver is driven into saturation.
