This CoriantTypesTimMode value (default NONE) selects how an OTU2e (enhanced OTU2, roughly 11.1 Gb/s) trunk carrying an oversized client signal such as 10GbE LAN evaluates the Trail Trace Identifier Mismatch (TIM) defect, for example comparing only the SAPI, only the DAPI, or the full trace string against the expected values. An administrator changes this to control how strictly the node polices trail trace mismatches, trading sensitivity to real misconnections against tolerance of partially-provisioned trace strings from older far-end equipment. For instance, restricting OTU2e to a SAPI-only comparison means it raises a TIM defect only when the received SAPI disagrees with the expected SAPI, ignoring differences elsewhere in the trace.
