What is nextHopMetric?
This field specifies the metric associated with a next-hop entry, defaulting to 0. An operator adjusts this to influence route preference when multiple next hops exist for the same destination, with a lower metric typically preferred. Setting a higher metric on a backup next hop compared to the primary is how an admin ensures traffic prefers the primary path under normal conditions.
