This read-write true/false attribute, false by default, governs whether a previously unconfigured and unauthorized ComPort is automatically granted default authorization, and if set true, every other attribute in this default group must also be populated; it cannot be enabled at the same time as hcxStuAltDownFreqEnable. Admins use it to trade some security for convenience during large self-install rollouts. For example, during a self-install campaign the MSO enables default auth so newly connected modems are auto-provisioned instead of requiring manual entry for each subscriber.
