Module: COM21-HCXTOP-MIB
OID (symbolic): COM21-HCXTOP-MIB::hcxMaxDnstrmCBRAlloc
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1141.2.2.29
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: This attribute defines the maximum percentage of downstream bandwidth that can be allocated to CBR traffic. This control mechanism will denied service to acquiring ComPorts if the addition of the configured CBR bandwidth would exceed the defined percentage. Note that this is a limit. i.e. if this attribute is set to 50%, then UP TO half the bandwidth can be CBR. It does not mean that half WILL be CBR. 100%, the default, means in effect there is no control.
What is hcxMaxDnstrmCBRAlloc?
This read-write integer from 0 to 100 caps the maximum percentage of downstream bandwidth that can be allocated to constant-bit-rate traffic; the description clarifies this is a ceiling that denies service to acquiring ComPorts if it would be exceeded, not a guarantee that percentage will actually be used, and the default of 100 means no real control. It protects downstream capacity from being entirely consumed by CBR services like voice, reserving headroom for best-effort data even as CBR demand grows. For example, an operator worried about telephony growth crowding out data subscribers might set hcxMaxDnstrmCBRAlloc to 50 so CBR traffic can never claim more than half the downstream, even though it might normally use far less.
