This read-only value reports the state of the physical Major Alarm Status LED on the ComController's CC board: on(1) means a major alarm exists and the LED is lit, off(2) means no major alarm is present. It lets an admin remotely check the same indicator a technician would see by looking at the chassis in person, without needing a site visit. For example, an operator responding to a service-affecting complaint could check hcxMajorAlarmStatusLed remotely first to see whether the headend itself is flagging a major condition before dispatching anyone to the site.
