Description:
This attribute is used tell the CC to download an
individual ComController software image from the boot
server (NMAPS) to PCMCIA disk. Images transfered as
a result of this command are not loaded to the
corresponding card - to do this, the uploaded image
must be made to be the primary image and the card must
be rebooted. The images are specified via
What is hcxImageTransfer?
This read-write 32-byte DisplayString tells the ComController to download a specific ComController software image and revision from the boot server (NMAPS) to its PCMCIA disk, and the description notes the transferred image is not automatically loaded onto the card - it must separately be made the primary image and the card rebooted. This lets an admin pre-stage a firmware image ahead of time without any service impact, since transferring the file alone doesn't trigger activation or a reboot. For example, an operator would use hcxImageTransfer overnight to download a new release to the PCMCIA disk, then handle the separate activation step during a scheduled maintenance window the next day.
