Description: Specifies whether all layer 2 packets that are none of the above (ARP, IPv4, IPv6, IPX, AppleTalk) should be filtered for this ComPort. This filter is applicable to 100BT and OC3 cards. It is not applicable to 10BT card. This filter filters traffic in both directions. This filter can also be enabled for an entire VLAN via the MIB attribute hcxVlanL2OthersFiltEnbl. Default is false.
What is hcxStuL2OthersFiltEnbl?
This read-write true/false object filters all layer-2 packet types not otherwise covered (ARP, IPv4, IPv6, IPX, AppleTalk) for this ComPort, applicable to 100BT and OC3 but not 10BT, in both directions, per the description, and can also be set per-VLAN. An admin enables this as a catch-all to block any unrecognized or unexpected protocol traffic from a specific device. For example, an admin enables hcxStuL2OthersFiltEnbl on a device generating an unusual protocol none of the other named filters cover.
