Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies whether ARP packets should be filtered for this ComPort. This filter is applicable to 100BT and OC3 cards. It is not applicable to 10BT card. It filters traffic in both upstream and downstream directions. Default is false. This filter can also be enabled for an entire VLAN via the MIB attribute hcxVlanL2ArpIpv4FiltEnbl.

What is hcxStuL2ArpIpv4FiltEnbl?

This read-write true/false object filters ARP packets for this ComPort in both directions, applicable to 100BT and OC3 but not 10BT, defaulting to false, per the description, and can also be set per-VLAN. An admin enables this to block ARP traffic outright from a specific device, a stronger measure than the authentication-based ARP filter (hcxStuIpArpFiltEnable). For example, an admin enables hcxStuL2ArpIpv4FiltEnbl on a device that should never need to originate ARP requests, such as a locked-down appliance.
