This read-only Gauge32 counts Ethernet packets transmitted out this port during the previous 15-minute period. It gives an administrator a finished traffic-volume figure for the last complete interval, useful for building historical throughput graphs. For example, an operator generating an hourly bandwidth report would poll this previous-period transmit count rather than the still-changing current one.
