This read-only Counter32 counts the total number of frames transmitted and received on Port 1 during this 15-second short-term history sample, with the value 4294967294 reserved to mean the count is unknown. An admin trends this frame count across successive samples to see whether overall traffic volume on Port 1 is growing, shrinking, or spiking unexpectedly. For example, a run of 15-second short-term samples where this Frames count triples compared to prior intervals on Port 1 would prompt the admin to check for a traffic surge or a misbehaving device flooding that traffic.
