What is ssbActiveNodes?
This read-only Gauge32 reports the number of active nodes observed on the whole monitored link (both ports combined) during this 15-second short-term sample, with 4294967294 meaning unknown. An admin uses this count to gauge how many distinct devices are actively communicating on the whole monitored link (both ports combined), which helps distinguish a traffic spike caused by more devices joining from one caused by existing devices sending more. For example, ActiveNodes jumping from 40 to 200 during one 15-second short-term sample on the whole monitored link (both ports combined) would explain a corresponding rise in broadcast traffic as new devices arriving on the segment rather than a single device malfunctioning.
