This read-only Counter32 counts ICMP Fragmentation Needed report frames, sent when the Don't Fragment bit is set, observed on the monitored segment's ICMP/IP traffic during this 15-minute long-term sample, with 4294967294 meaning unknown. An admin treats a rising FragRequired count on the monitored segment's ICMP/IP traffic as a classic symptom of a Path MTU mismatch, where large packets cannot be fragmented and are instead dropped with a notification back to the sender. For example, FragRequired reports increasing on the monitored segment's ICMP/IP traffic after enabling a new tunnel interface would suggest lowering the effective MTU on that path to avoid the fragmentation-needed drops.
