What is mlpNovell?
This read-only Counter32 counts Novell (IPX) frames attributed to this row's MAC address (MacIndex) in the mlp protocol-mix history table. Breaking traffic down by protocol per host lets an admin see which application is actually responsible for a host's load, instead of only knowing the total Frames count from the basic-load table. An admin trying to explain why a host generates constant background traffic would check mlpNovell to see whether novell (ipx) traffic, rather than user activity, accounts for most of it.
